Hi Elliot, I was looking for a place to add a comment, but couldn't find one. Your analysis is spot on. I agree with everything you wrote. I think that your article should be translated into Hebrew. From what I hear, too many Israelis are looking for a very simplistic solution to this situation- they want the U.S. to join in. They aren't weighing all of the possible results of such an action. I hope and pray that there are responsible and intelligent making the decisions. I think that our security forces are led by good people, I am not so sure about the political leaders in our government.
what would going to Congress achieve beyond delaying any actual action? if they bomb successfully, all your fears are assuaged. If they bomb unsuccessfully, then having Congress' backing isn't going to change much
and on an existential level... with or without Congress, Israel needs either the bombs or regime change in Tehran and if Congress votes against war, neither would be forthcoming
